We are now just under one week to go till the start of our epic trip, in fact one week from today we will be flying from Seattle to Regina in Canada.
We now have 2 further ways to follow the WorldFlight Group
We have a group page on Facebook which is also linked on the left side of the blog under the live inflight info link.
Also Hoppie has now adapted our ACARS Reporting software to output Tweets to Twitter, this will also allow crews to make tweets direct from the Flight Management Computer on the Flightdeck so you can be up to date by the minute with all the official aircraft taking part.
This week I have created the Front page of the website ready for the change over as we start the event, on Thursday all 3 projectors in the Simulator will have their bulbs removed for cleaning, this is not a "Polish" but a necessary action, The main reason for Projector bulbs blowing or deteriorating is Heat, each bulb has a filter on it to keep out dust sucked in by the cooling fans, it is recommended these are cleaned every 200hrs otherwise if they are clogged they can overheat and fail ... as they cost £180 per bulb this can be expensive !
If looked after the bulb life is approx 3,000 hrs ... WorldFlight will use up approximatly 160hrs of bulb life on all three projectors as they are not turned off for the whole week.
